Navigating the FLSA in 2024

Conference/Seminar/School Gail Queen

Did you know that you cannot just pay someone a salary to avoid overtime? Or that you cannot give certain bonuses without potentially factoring them into your overtime calculations? All organizations are unlawfully paying employees in some way. That may be an overstatement, but not by much. Perhaps no topic is more confusing and potentially dangerous than complying with federal and state wage and hour laws. By explaining basic wage and hour compliance, covering recent regulatory updates, and demonstrating practical application using case studies and hypothetical scenarios, this session will give you an understanding of best practices when it comes to lawfully paying employees.

Learning Objectives

After this session, attendees should be able to:

  1. Identify the basic legal requirements of the FLSA and describe recent changes.
  2. Analyze whether their organization’s current policies and procedures comply with federal regulations.
  3. Implement any necessary changes in order the comply with the law and manage legal risk.
