Post

Eighty-eight Virginia bankers graduated from the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management in Charlottesville on July 26, 2024. The three-year school is sponsored by the Virginia Bankers Association (VBA).

VBA President & CEO Bruce Whitehurst commented about this year’s graduating class, “We are proud of the eighty-eight bankers who graduated this year. These students have developed a range of skills that will enhance their current performance and qualify them as potential candidates for advancement within their institutions. The connections they have made with other students will benefit them both personally and professionally for years to come.”

Lisa M. Cuba, chair of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management Board of Trustees and executive vice president, chief risk officer at Forbright Bank, added, “The Board of Trustees and I are honored to partner with the VBA staff, faculty, and officers of each class throughout the year, as we work together to maintain our reputation as the premier state banking school in the country. These graduates represent the future of the banking industry. We are all extremely proud of our graduating bank students, and we look forward to their continued success and contributions to the banking industry.”

2024 Class President Danielle Atwood, Carter Bank, reflected on her time at the School by saying, “Congratulations to the Class of 2024 for this astounding accomplishment. It is through each person’s leadership, friendship and integrity that we excelled over the past three years. The Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management affords us each a unique experience that develops us into skilled leaders, knowledgeable bankers, and compassionate humans. For all these attributes and more, I am thankful to all VBA staff, instructors and fellows.”

Through the use of highly qualified instructors and a challenging curriculum, the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management is designed to provide a multidimensional banking educational experience. Graduates complete three one-week summer sessions, eight home study problems and participate in a BankExec simulation, which allows them the opportunity to make decisions acting as senior officers of a bank.
