MBA/VBA Event Policies

Post

By registering to attend a virtual, hybrid, or in-person MBA/VBA-sponsored event, you agree to the following event policies:

Respiratory Illnesses Release & Hold Harmless

Our #1 priority is ensuring the safety of all event attendees, presenters, staff and hotel personnel.  By participating in person at a Virginia Bankers Association (“VBA”) or Maryland Bankers Association (“MBA”) event, you acknowledge that there is an unknown risk of potential exposure to respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, flu, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), especially in the fall and winter.  Such exposure could result in illness, disability or death.  You should stay home and away from others when sick with symptoms of a respiratory virus, which can include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, sore throat, coughing, sneezing or abdominal distress. You should resume your normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, your symptoms are improving and you have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). You agree to hold harmless the MBA, VBA and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from and against any and all claims of liability and/or damages from exposure to respiratory illnesses.  Participants warrant and represent that they will comply with all governmental, MBA, VBA, and host facility laws, orders, restrictions and guidelines regarding respiratory illnesses when participating in a MBA/VBA event or meeting.

MBA/VBA Image Use Policy

Registration in MBA/VBA events and activities constitutes an agreement by the attendee to the MBA/VBA’s use and distribution, both current and future, of the attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities. Attendees waive any right to inspect or approve the finished materials and agree that all such pictures, video or audio recordings, and any reproduction thereof, shall remain the property of the MBA/VBA to use at its discretion. Attendees release and discharge the MBA/VBA and its agents, representatives, and assignees from any claim or cause of action, now known or later discovered, for, among other things, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, and/or defamation arising out of the use of attendees’ image or voice. Consent is binding, perpetual and may not be revoked.

MBA/VBA Antitrust Policy

MBA Mission: It is the mission of the Maryland Bankers Association to promote the strength and success of Maryland banks and bankers.

VBA Mission: It is the mission of the Virginia Bankers Association to enhance banks’ ability to serve their customers and communities.

Antitrust Policy: It is the policy of the MBA/VBA to comply fully with all antitrust laws and to avoid even the appearance of a violation of antitrust laws and regulations. Care should be exercised by both MBA/VBA staff and bankers at MBA/VBA events to avoid discussing topics, such as pricing or controlling markets, that could give the appearance of a violation of antitrust laws and regulations.

The course materials used in MBA/VBA education programs are prepared by and are the property of the speakers, lecturers, and/or instructors (the “presenters”). The materials are not edited, reviewed or approved by the MBA/VBA. The opinions of the presenters and the content/information contained in the materials do not necessarily reflect the position of the MBA/VBA. This educational program and all related materials have been prepared and presented for informational purposes only and are not legal advice. You should consult an attorney engaged to represent you if you have a legal matter requiring attention.
